Devil’s Thumb Ranch Holiday Fête: Deschutes Beer Dinner, Holiday Gift Market and Tommelfest

Indulge in a good dose of holiday cheer Dec. 9-10, 2011 at Devil’s Thumb Ranch, where its annual holiday fête has grown to include a special Holiday Gift Market complete with carolers and cocktails,  and Deschutes Beer-Pairing Dinner the night before the famed Tommelfest Nordic Festival begins.  The weekend also marks the final dates for season-pass ski deals, with price increases starting Dec. 11, 2011.

The Holiday Gift Market kicks off the two-day holiday festival on Fri., Dec. 9th, where local artisans showcase and sell unique gifts from their collections. Craft beer and culinary enthusiasts can then gather at Heck’s for a three-course indulgence of Deschutes award-winning craft beers, paired with locally sourced and sustainable cuisine from Executive Chef Evan Treadwell, who brings a reputed from the heart, earth and sea approach to Devil’s Thumb Ranch’s dining experiences.  The next morning, Tommelfest opens up for registration at 8 am with festivities and competition commencing at 10 a.m.

Holiday Gift Market – Carolers, cocktails and local artisans combine to make an afternoon and evening of celebration and unique shopping experiences. Trunk shows by EMU, PrAna and Christy Lea Payne round out the event.

Three beers, three courses, elegantly paired together in a fun and lively setting, and a gift from the brewer.

Tommelfest Nordic Festival — Ski Clinics, BBQ, Short Track Laser Biathlon Relay, Season-Pass Holder Cocktail Reception, wear your Viking helmet to add to the fun.

10:00-11:30  Free Skate Ski Lesson and Classic Ski Lesson for beginner, intermediate and advanced level skiers. Presented by DU Ski team, Boulder Nordic Club and Grand Nordic Club.  Call to sign up.

10:00-2:00  Snowman Making Contest

11:30-2:00  BBQ and Grog Garden – Heck’s patio

12:00  Norwegian Keg Toss

12:30-2:00  Short Track Laser Biathlon Relay

2:30 pm Biathlon Award Ceremony

1:00-2:00  Ski Waxing Clinic presented by Swix – Waxing Yurt

2:00-3:30  Free Skate Ski Lesson and Classic Ski Lesson for beginner, intermediate and advanced level skiers presented by Boulder Nordic Club and Grand Nordic Club.  Call to sign up.

4:00-5:00  Season Pass Holder Reception – upper level,  Heck’s
