Review: Canada Goose Montebello Parka

I didn’t know it was possible to be warm in -40 degrees celsius (-40° F) weather. Apparently it is. All thanks to the Montebello Parka from Canada Goose. Wow is this jacket ever warm! It has been a dream of mine to own a Canada Goose jacket, after hearing rave reviews of them from everyone I know who has them. I finally got the chance this year.

Impossible to choose which design, I finally decided that I wanted one I could wear no matter where I was going or what I was doing. I settled on the Montebello because it looks rugged enough that I can wear it with hiking boots but classy enough I can still wear it to a restaurant.

Upon receiving the jacket, I quickly put it on and checked myself out in the mirror. Hip length and slim fitting, I couldn’t be happier with the way it looked. Although I am not a fur collar sort of person, I did end up keeping the fur around the hood for a number of weeks. Luckily, when I wanted to take it off, it was an easy one zipper move.

My favourite pocket has to be the breast pockets, angled perfectly to fit my hand in and grab a snack that I often stash in there or my phone. They also happen to be fleece lined so they keep everything in there nice and warm. With no buttons or zippers on them, easy access is guaranteed.

When I want to keep something safe and secure, I put them in the lower pockets, also fleece lined and secured with military type buttons. Or, I put them in the two interior pockets or the arm flap, so many choices. Although I have worn this jacket a number of times to snowshoe in, it’s almost too warm for that level of activity, and luckily it comes with two straps so you can wear it on your back like a backpack. The color is incredibly sharp and I get compliments every time I go out wearing this coat, the blue is very bright and vibrant. One of the best things about this jacket and the company though is the lifetime guarantee in regards to defects due to materials or workmanship, a welcome change from most companies who force you to buy year after year. I can imagine every other design is perfectly done, just as this one is. Owning a Canada Goose Jacket is one of the best investments you can make if you happen to live anywhere that gets cold.

  • Really a Double Bummer! My Canadian Goose Parka has basically saved my life the last few days here in the midwest, wearing it out to feed my horses in –60 below wind chills .. I do not even feel the cold w/ the Expedition Parka on!!! & once I put it on, have to get out of the house b/c it’s so warm, I actually start to feel sick, it’s well worth every penny. I have two of these wonderful tools, the super warm (Expedition) & the other is a step or two down, both are so well worth it. Oh I also picked up a C/G Vest in Alaska last year – another smart purchase. I wish everyone, who lives in cold climates, could experience the warmth of these products! Best of luck to you!

    • Thanks for sharing your experience Sherry! You know it’s a good investment if it’s keeping you warm in -60 below wind chills! Happy to hear that the parka has been so helpful 🙂

  • I want to buy a Canada Goose parka, but I live in chicago and I don’t want to risk being mugged at gun point for my Canada Goose. I really want one, it just sucks we can’t have nice things in chicago

    • That is a bummer Lili! If you get out of Chicago often, they are still awesome for those snowshoeing or outdoor adventure trips.
