Alpine Adventures Offers New Backcountry Snowshoe Tours

Alpine Adventures, the award-winning adventure destination best known for its zipline tours, is adding a new adventure opportunity for winter lovers of all abilities. Its new backcountry snowshoe tours offer an exciting off-road ride to a high-elevation snowshoe trailhead and a guided snowy walking tour in the heart of the White Mountains.

The two-hour excursion begins at the organization’s headquarters, where guests, outfitted with snowshoes and poles, climb aboard a 6-wheel Swiss Military Pinzgauer, for an off-road trek up Barron Mountain. The one-mile hiking tour begins near the summit, where snowshoe guides complement the adventure with information about the local wildlife and logging history of northern New Hampshire. The walking tour weaves its way through the trees, out onto ledges offering spectacular views of surrounding peaks and under many active zipline courses, concluding with a cup of steaming hot cocoa around a warming fire at an outdoor fire pit.

Backcountry snowshoe tours depart daily at 11:30am and reservations are required; the cost is $59 per person. Personalized private tours for small groups, including evening moonlight tours, are also available.

Backcountry snowshoers celebrate the end of an exhilarating hike, and look forward to the off-road trip back to town.
