Winter Delight

Bayview Wildwood provides guests with ample opportunity to get out of doors and experience all that winter has to offer.

The resort is equipped for guests to enjoy ice skating, broomball and ball hockey, cross-country skiing, ice fishing, tobogganing and of course, snowshoeing, all at no charge and without having to worry about packing their own gear. Snowmobile rentals are also available for those who are looking for a bit more adventure.

Take advantage of a guided snowshoe hike or explore one of the resort’s two trails on your own. Brochures are available to explain along the way the history of the trail and to introduce you to the wildlife and natural formations you may encounter.

Resort general manager Dianne Hounsome says snowshoeing is especially popular as a family weekend activity because it doesn’t require perfect conditions, just enough snow to make it an adventure.

Special getaway packages are available, as is activity programming and kids’ programs.

Amenities

Bayview Wildwood understands that no matter how much guests may love the outdoors, at some time they will need to come in. Indoor amenities are equally as fabulous and include Jacuzzi tubs, fireplaces, an indoor swimming pool, and an indoor recreation centre.

Exercise facilities including squash courts, treadmills, free weights, and stationary bikes offer entertainment and a chance to stay active, even on a blustery winter day.

A games room will entertain kids and adults alike with billiards, ping-pong, shuffleboard, foosball, and air hockey tables.

Accommodations

The resort includes a range of accommodation styles including rooms, suites, cottages and historic houses. All of the rooms are large and provide ample sleeping and living space. Many rooms feature connecting doors than can be opened to accommodate larger families and five-bedroom homes are ideal for multiple or larger families.

The resort also operates rental units at The Cottages at Port Stanton. These units provide users with access to the resort’s amenities but with greater privacy and independence for those who may prefer to do their own cooking for instance.

Dining

Understanding that dining with kids can be stressful, Bayview Wildwood is very family friendly and family oriented.

Breakfasts and lunches are frequently buffet style so families can get in, eat, and get on with the day’s activities. A specific kids’ menu is available, as is the option to small size any entrée from the adult menu to suit smaller appetites. At certain times a kids’ buffet is also available at dinner so kids don’t have to wait to eat. Hounsome says the resort has been operating in the same family-friendly style for more than a hundred years so they know what families want and need.

Dinner menus rotate every seven days so guests enjoy variety during their stay. Adults might enjoy dishes like sweet potato and maple soup, rigatoni primavera or seared medallions of beef, perhaps with a sweet ending of a vanilla bean cheesecake. If that’s too adventurous for the kids, they can get their favorite classic grilled cheese sandwich, veggie sticks with dip, or simple ice cream sundaes.
