Tubbs Snowshoes is dedicated to fighting breast cancer one stomp at a time during their annual Romp to Stomp fundraiser. Coming in to the 13th season of the very successful fundraiser I spoke to Stephanie Yankeh, events manager about how the event started and why Tubbs is so dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer awareness, research and education.

Tubbs Snowshoes first fundraising efforts coincided with their first ever woman’s specific snowshoe that was released in 1994. Tubbs held a free demo day where people could come and try out the snowshoes and all funds that were raised were donated to the Susan G. Komen foundation. The demo day was such a success Tubbs went on to offer them all over the United States and eventually they were rolled in to what is now known as the Tubbs Romp to Stomp Out Breast Cancer Snowshoe Series. Offered in four major locations across North America in February and March 2015, this unique event has a motto of “You Bring the Pink. We Bring the Snowshoes”.

With events in Vermont, Washington, Colorado and Ontario (Tubbs partnered with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in 2008), Tubbs is quickly taking over the snowshoeing world and the fight to end cancer.

A fun-filled day awaits you at the event of your choice. Each location offers a choice of a 3km or 5km snowshoe course, a 3km snowshoe race, and lil’ romper dash for the kids ages 6-12. There are free demo snowshoes on each site for those beginners who many not have their own–enter to win prizes, get out and enjoy the fresh air and watch your fundraising efforts go to a great cause. Stomp to Romp is the perfect opportunity to raise money for a good cause while trying out a new sport. As Yankeh puts it, “while rompers come in all ages, genders, and sizes, from the first time snowshoer to the weekend snowshoe warrior, we all have one end goal in mind: to live in a world without breast cancer.”

We encourage you to pull out your pink mitts, hat or boots, if you don’t have any check out the Romp to Stomp store for some “pink” accessories. Build a team or join as an individual. Gear up and get ready for a day of celebration, fun and an opportunity to trek in a beautiful setting with others who share the same passion.
