The excitingly festive January 31, 2015 International Snowshoe Federation World Snowshoe Championships are nearer than you imagine; think of this . . . Christmas is only 136 days away.

The ISSF World Snowshoe Championships visits Quebec City, Canada for that city’s second hosting of the world snowshoe competition. The races last competed at Quebec City in 2012. This edition importantly serves as a demonstration sport in the International Masters Winter World Games concurrent with the world-famous Quebec City Winter Carnival. The big opening parade like no other you have seen in winter is Friday night before the race.

The 2014 championships raced in Rattvik, Sweden, [article] featured a successful defense of the women’s title by Isabella Morlini, Italy, while Stephane Ricard lead the French contingent for his world championship title. A true global event, competitors gathered from Great Britain, Russia, Iceland, Norway, Catalonia, Japan, Germany, Canada, Sweden, United States in addition to Italy and France.
