Gear Review: Ausangate Boot Socks

Screen Shot 2014-02-22 at 7.28.35 PMIf your feet are the gateway to an enjoyable outdoor adventure, these socks could be your Ausangate-way to comfort. And its Ausangate’s line of boot socks that provide all the comfort and protection from the cold that any snowshoer is sure to appreciate.

“When your boots and feet need perfect companions, these socks are the ones to try,” Ausangate says of its knee-high socks. “To keep socks in place without bunching up we placed two types of compression bands at the ankle and another one at the arch. The socks are cushioned from heel to toe to keep your feet comfortable. These alpaca fiber socks breathe and wick away moisture naturally.”

Now, I’m normally not a big fan of knee-high socks. I have rather large calves, which can turn any sock into a compression socks. I’m quite used to having lingering marks on my legs at the end of the day when I kick the socks off. However, I’m usually game to try something new as well.

I’m a sucker for wool products of almost any type as well, so these socks are irresistible.

I can feel the comfort just thinking about it.

There’s also a vented mesh across instep and shin for maximum breathability. Add in some Terry lining from heel to toe for extra comfort, and you’re all set for a comfortable romp.

My feet feel better just thinking about it.

The socks are available in a calf-high hiking version as well, with similar features, which is ideal for me.
