Members of the 2012 United States National Team, Eric Hartmark of Minnesota and Jared Scott of Colorado, will be competing in the 2013 La Ciaspolada snowshoe race in the Val di Non of Northern Italy on Jan. 6.

Known to invite thousands of snowshoe racing competitors from around the world, La Ciaspolada is also designated as the 2013 International Snowshoeing Federation (ISSF) World Snowshoe Championships.

“We’re excited to be returning to Italy for La Ciaspolada,” said Mark Elmore, sports director for the United States Snowshoe Association. “Eric and Jared are two of our nation’s best snowshoe runners and they are sure to do well against a field of some of the world’s top competitors.”

After finishing second at the 2012 U.S. National Championships in Colorado, Scott will tackle his first World Snowshoe Championships.

Other Americans who plan to compete in the World Championships include Mark Rickman of Colorado and Tim Walczyk and Mary Jo Kiggins of New York.
