Ambler Donates Half of Online Sales to Charity

Canadian hat company, Ambler Mountain Works, today launches a two-week charity campaign that will donate half of all online sales proceeds to Peace Rehabilitation Center, a grassroots organization that offers protection and rehabilitation for at-risk girls and women in Nepal.

From November 30 through December 14, the “Warm Your Head, Warm   Your Soul” campaign will benefit the initiatives of the PRC, which include border trafficking patrol, skill and income development, raising livestock, spice and candle production and sewing and knitting classes.

“I arrived at PRC to find girls sitting outside knitting together in a circle laughing and chatting.  These were some of the girls who had been rescued from human trafficking,” said Ambler Designer and Co-Owner Jackie Brown, who recently returned from a trip to Nepal.  “It was so obvious right away to me that PRC was a safe, clean and loving home where girls could learn to trust again and find a new life.”

Ambler has been a partner with the PRC since 2011, helping at-risk and disadvantaged women to learn a craft while making a fair income through hand-made hats, bags and scarves.  Through this initiative, a large percentage of Ambler’s production is now in Nepal, and the company helps to employ over 175 women throughout the Kathmandu Valley.  In addition to this charity campaign, Ambler has donated two percent of their yearly sales to the PRC since 2010.

“We believe that we can make unique, well-crafted products in a responsible way,” said Sales and Marketing Manager Eryn Willard, “and we’re committed to supporting the people behind them.”
