No. 2 Snowshoe-friendly Ski Resort: Beaver Creek Resort, Colorado

Snow-capped Rocky Mountains and sunshine 300 days of the year—the state of Colorado forever remains an outdoor sports adventurer’s dream. Beaver Creek Resort, Colorado—”Not exactly roughing it.” How many American resorts can organically create a fusion of European luxury resort influences combined with upscale classic American style, ambiance and attitude… and own it? Not many, which is why we’ve ranked Beaver Creek No. 2 on your snowshoe destination bucket list. About 100 miles from Denver, transportation options are endless and easily accessible.

Beaver Creek’s McCoy Park offers snowshoers 32k of crème de la crème rustic and groomed trails, incredible views from three different mountain ranges, and is one of North America’s only lift-accessed trail systems. Everything you need you’ll find at the Nordic Sports Center. Centrally located at the base of the mountain, you can shop, rent, book, hydrate and fuel… all under one roof before you step foot into the Colorado wilderness. Scarpa and Atlas snowshoes are among the resort’s brands for snowshoe gear sales and rentals.

Take a step on “The Wildside”—McCoy Park’s longest Black Diamond Nordic/snowshoe track that winds up to a 3,105m Discovery Lookout. Nothing beats an epic view-point at the end of a long, hard elevation climb. Then, take it up a notch and participate in Beaver Creek’s Snowshoe Adventure Series like the Dash for Cash or Cadillac 10k—even the race names spell luxurious, competitive fun.

Don’t let “cabin” throw you off, dining options like Zach’s Cabin are five-star and well worth the overall experience. For example, Beano’s Cabin is only accessible by open air sleigh pulled by a snow cat and complete with live music when you reach your “rustic meets lavish” dining destination.
