Handy Hydration

Stay hydrated! That statement is easier said than observed. We all know that drinking water is a must for any athlete and that inadequate drinking results in poor performance and physiological function. So why is filling up that glass sometimes so hard? Why is it so easy to forget a water bottle when leaving the house?

Camelbak to the rescue. The company’s mission is to “continuously reinvent and forever change the way people hydrate and perform.” (Sounds good to us.) Camelbak does its best to make drinking easy – so easy that you don’t even have to lift a finger or tilt a glass.

Among the company’s newest items is the Eddy Glass, a durable, 25-ounce glass container that is reusable and dishwasher safe (which is important, according the company, because the dishwasher uses half the energy and one-sixth of the water and less soap than hand washing).

The French-made glass is covered in a removable silicone sleeve (take your pick of aqua, charcoal, lime or purple) that provides grip and protection for the glass. Although slightly heavier than a traditional water bottle, the Eddy Glass may be preferable to folks who avoid plastics – both for environmental and taste reasons (you know how sometimes water can acquire a plastic flavor from a plastic water bottle?).

The Eddy Glass is topped off with Camelbak’s standard Eddy cap: a bite valve attached to a large, easy-to-clean straw. The whole system is simple: flip the valve, bite down and sip. No tipping necessary (and even if you did tip, this contraption is spill proof).

The Eddy Glass is not the type of container you’d take on a hike or a run (stick to Camelbak’s tried and true hydration packs for that), but it is perfect pre- or post-workout, at the office or around the house. The bottle is a little bit sporty thanks to the colorful outer layer and a little bit chic thanks to the understated glass below. Mostly, however, it’s a practical way to stay hydrated. So, fill ‘er up and start sipping.

  • Love it. Great look and I do like to see a vessel made out of glass. It seems to go better with water than other materials and you can be sure that you get good quality as it’s from Camelbak. I must admit that I do love the picture you chose, the lime looks really good.
Another great way to stay hydrated and to cut down on the environmental waste of water bottles.
