I-Like Horny Toad’s I-Glove

‘Tis the season for spring weather and fewer layers of clothing, but winter hasn’t totally disappeared from our lives yet. Just this past weekend, I opted to ditch the snowy mountain town in favor of the first camping trip of the year. En route to the desert, I was armed with plenty of layers to accommodate the stark temperature differences between daytime and nighttime. The 60-degree weather was what I was seeking, but temps plunged into the low 30s in the middle of the night and required me to dig through my gear bag for all available warm layers. I credited myself with a good sense of pre-planning every night as I reached for my Horny Toad I-Gloves – a small accessory that added to my blissful camping getaway.Horny Toad I-Glove

See, I’m a lucky recipient of perpetually cold fingers and toes during the winter, and my normal approach is to just suffer through them and build a mental resistance to the cold. Good in theory, until frozen digits wake me up in the middle of the night and I curse the ridiculousness of said theory. So when dusk hit the desert campground, my exposed body parts were quick to become downright cold. Solution? The Horny Toad I-Gloves.

The I-Gloves aren’t heavy on the technology, so don’t expect them to perform like a high-end glove. Their “technology” is simply a cutout thumb and index finger with a fold-back cap for each digit. The gloves were designed in mind to provide smart phone-savvy women with a good-looking casual glove that doesn’t need to be removed to text or email. It is, indeed, a great glove when you don’t need high-tech performance. From reading books in cold weather to stirring a pot of instant rice and pesto chicken, the “removable” fingertips added plenty of dexterity when checking email took a backseat to camping necessities.

These fuzzy, casual gloves are made from B’Wool, a blend of warm lambswool and silky angora wool, and a little nylon for added durability. The material was extra soft and a perfect thickness for sleeping in – not to hot or bulky. Perhaps the only downfall is just how fuzzy they are, and a few times I awoke to the texture of stray fuzz in my mouth. But maybe that’s just a compliment to Horny Toad for making a comfy and classic pair of casual gloves that look good enough to eat (at least in my dreams).
