Introducing the Snowshoes.com Get Going! Workshop Series at REI

Snowshoes.com, an online guide to staying active in winter, announced the launch of the Snowshoes.com Get Going! Workshops at select REI stores nationwide. The workshops are designed for everyone from first-timers looking for assistance on choosing a snowshoe or dressing for winter, to intermediates looking for tips and places to go.

The Snowshoes.com Get Going! Workshops feature education and product from presenting sponsors Atlas Snow-Shoe Company, Tubbs Snowshoes, and GORE-TEX to provide participants with the essential tools and resources to become active, knowledgeable and confident snowshoers. The workshops are led by adventure athlete and snowshoe enthusiast Julie Hudetz. Hudetz, a former competitive cyclist, adventure racer and avid snowshoer, brings with her several years of experience as a workshop presenter for the Atlas Explore Winter Women’s Workshops and the W.L. Gore Dressing for Success Winter Workshops.

“The Snowshoes.com Get Going! Workshops are a great way to get motivated and get the whole family out on snowshoes,” said Hudetz. “Attendees can look forward to gaining a solid foundation to explore snowshoeing as a winter sport in an inspirational and fun setting.”

The Snowshoes.com Get Going! Workshop series kicks off its whirlwind tour on Nov. 1, 2011 at the Brookfield, Wis. REI store, and continues through 32 REI locations nationwide in three months. The workshops are offered at no cost to participants.

In addition to an hour-long presentation, attendees will also receive a goody bag, gift with purchase offers and the chance to participate in drawings for great prizes from presenting sponsors Atlas Snow-Shoe Company, Tubbs Snowshoes, GORE-TEX, and supporting sponsors Marmot, Arc’teryx, Outdoor Research, Vasque, Merrell, and Clif Bar. From how to choose the right snowshoe to what to wear, how to plan a snowshoe trip, and where to find local trails and events, the Snowshoes.com Get Going! Workshop series will teach participants of all ages and abilities the essential tools and techniques to explore winter’s wonder.
