Lake Tahoe resorts continue to lead the pack thanks to another powerful winter storm that dumped more than two feet of fresh snow at higher elevations. This latest storm system was fresh on the heels of the snowiest November on record with massive La Niña storms peeling off the Pacific Ocean dropping over 10 feet of snow in less than a week. Season snowfall totals in Lake Tahoe have now crested the 15 foot mark.
Skiers and snowboarders on the slopes of Lake Tahoe have been enjoying a perfect blend of timely snowfall followed by classic bluebird powder days. This trend looks to continue through the upcoming holidays with the forecast calling for a potent storm system starting this Friday to provide upwards of ten feet of snow at higher elevations.
According to Matt Wanink with the Western Weather Group, “This series of storms currently tracking towards the Lake Tahoe resorts looks to be on par with the record-setting snowstorms experienced by the region in late November. The most recent computer models are predicting nightly snowfall totals to be measured in feet rather than inches with storm snowfall totals very likely to eclipse the ten foot mark at higher elevations.”
For the third straight season, the Ski Lake Tahoe resorts will be in full operations in time for Christmas boasting top-to-bottom skiing and snowboarding on some of the deepest base depths in the country.
