Vermont Ski Resorts Hit With Surprise Snowstorm

Winter’s first major snowstorm has blanketed Vermont’s slopes with more snow than expected with upwards of two feet in the Green Mountains and more snowfall continuing throughout the week.  Coupled with epic snowmaking and grooming conditions, winter’s strong start will see more ski areas opening for the weekend with trail counts on the rise throughout the state.

“This surprise snowstorm has really jump-started our trail counts and resort bookings for weekend trips and holidays,” said Ski Vermont President Parker Riehle. “Vermont’s easy highway access for all skiers and riders who live within a day’s drive of our mountains means more people can play more, travel less and get here quickly.  And, with more snow in the forecast and ideal winter conditions for snowmaking and grooming, we’ll see more and more of Vermont’s ski trails in top form for pre-holiday skiing.”

The holidays make December all the more enticing in Vermont’s snowy mountains with festivals, events and good natured cheer emanating from the resorts. Visit the Love Winter section of skivermont.com for some trip planning ideas and inspiration.

More snowflakes and statewide reports of increasingly prime Conditions will greet skiers and riders this weekend as resorts grow their bases and trails. Vermont resorts also provide the perfect Learn-To Ski/Ride experience for those thinking about jumping into the sport with a quick weekend getaway.
