SNOWSHOE MAGAZINE GEAR REVIEW:

Gear Review: Blendtec Total Blender

One of the keys to wellness and sport performance is to ingest nutrient dense whole foods. Assimilation of these vital nutrients is determined by its form. Smoothies will be more easily assimilated by your body than eating solid foods. Plant-based foods will be more easily assimilated than meat-based foods.

The Blendtec Total Blender makes life easy in the kitchen for the busy snowshoer. Blendtec offers the Smart-Touch Tec-nology™ which allows its user to push a button to blast through a hands-free automatic program cycle that automatically stops upon completion. The Total Blender also has ‘up’ and ‘down’ buttons to manually cycle through its 10 speeds, a ‘pulse’ button, and automatically shuts down after 50 seconds of continuous blending.

As a raw food vegan I was instantly pleased with its power to break down carrots, nuts, seeds, greens, and pulverize ice cubes, apples, avocados, and anything else hat I tossed in the container. I would not be surprised if the two-pronged, four-inch blade, and 13 amps could crush an iPod or similar device. Its blade is used both for wet/dry recipes.

Its unique square, three-quart, BPA-free container is stylish and a snap to clean—whether you made a salsa, chocolate recovery pudding, almond milk, or peanut butter from a bag of nuts. Variations of this commercial grade quality machine has been used for years by professionals in coffee shops, juice bars, gyms, and restaurants spanning the globe.

The Total Blender comes with a book of recipes, a product video on CD, an instruction booklet, and a three-year warranty on the machine and a lifetime warranty on the blade. Durability is not an issue.

The Blendtec total Blender is an all-in-one appliance that is fast and easy to use and capable of making seemingly anything you imagine. The company touts that it replaces up to nine other appliances at a fraction of the cost.
