Preserving a Snowshoe Frame of Mind

If you find yourself remaining stagnant during the spring and summer seasons, find solace in the Snowshoe Magazine Web site. Throughout the coming months we plan to provide some tips, articles and more information on how to keep a “snowshoeing” mindset.

Take my advice; it’s not an option to put the snowshoes in the basement or in the closet when the sun dictates the weather. That “out of sight, out of mind” thing ain’t workin’ for us.

We are already in the stages of preparing for next winter and so far…it’s looking like our involvement in the industry will increase ten fold. Look for the Snowshoe Magazine logo and other materials being distributed among races and more. And, watch for me – your faithful and courageous Snowshoe Magazine publisher – eagerly attending industry galas (according to how much the dollar gods allow for us).

So, it’s time…we want to know what you think of the site. Is it missing that special touch? Have our attempts to keep you informed failed? If there was an event we missed in our coverage…give us the where, when, why, how and what.

We collectively want to serve this industry appropriately and we want to be sure we have the correct focus. We’re not here to feed but to help. And, so far, the participation has been golden. Keep it up and we will as well.

On another note, I would like to take some editorial space to address southern hemisphere snowshoeing. As the “northies” are tanning by the pools, the “southies” are basking in the fresh powder. From Australia to Chile and from New Zealand to Argentina, southern hemi snowshoeing is alive and well – we support its growth.

For more information and a fairly good taste of the southern wonders of the world, I suggest visiting Bruce Easton’s Wilderness Sports Web site in Australia: http://www.wildernesssports.au. We will be working with Bruce throughout the summer months and providing an intricate element to the industry by focusing on the “worldwide” aspects of this great sport.

Don’t get us wrong, we love the stars and bars, but we must think globally instead of primary Americana.

Plus, if you have one of those unique snowshoeing experiences that would look excellent as an article (especially one that could appear on Snowshoemag.com), we must talk. If you’re interested in writing for our publication and would like to assist in our ground up operation, please e-mail me as soon as possible: ryan@snowshoemag.com.

For an example of this personal experience article, please take the time to read Jim Fagan’s wonderful editorial piece titled, “Snowshoeing for Seniors.” He lives in Texas but he loves snowshoeing, go figure. Props to Jim!

Subscribe today to Snowshoe Magazine e-mail updates and become part of a dynasty in the making. As our motto says: “Our commitment to the sport of snowshoeing and the future of this publication will remain steadfast.” As always, we live by it.
