Win a Trip to Taos While Helping Wild Earth Llama Adventures Rescue Unwanted Llamas

llama-trekking-llamaWild Earth Llama Adventures in Taos, New Mexico is giving abandoned, abused and neglected llamas a second chance while, at the same time, giving one lucky couple a chance to win a five-day, four night vacation package to Taos, New Mexico with their llama rescue adventure raffle. Only 100 raffle tickets will be sold from Dec. 12 through Jan. 15, 2013, increasing the odds of winning. The drawing will be held on Jan. 15.

The Taos vacation package includes: a three-day llama trekking adventure in New Mexico’s pristine wilderness (includes gourmet meals, sleeping bags and tents); one night stay at the Historic Taos Inn; dinner at Doc Martin’s Restaurant, located in the historic Taos Inn; and one night stay with a private pool at Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort and Spa.

The package is based on double occupancy. The value of the entire package is well over $2,000. Each ticket is $100 and directly benefits llama rescue efforts. Proceeds from the raffle will be used for veterinary care, hay and feed, fencing materials, water lines, and outbuildings.

“Taking in these homeless and abandoned llamas is our way of giving back to these magnificent animals; however, with more than 35 llamas to feed and care for, it has become quite an expense for us,” said Stuart Wilde, wilderness guide and owner of Wild Earth Llama Adventures. “This annual adventure raffle is a great way for us to raise some much needed and appreciated funds to help support our ongoing llama rescue efforts.”

Wilde said that there are a number of reasons people no longer can care for their llamas.

“Many people get llamas as exotic pets or as a breeding investment,” Wilde said. “Sadly, when the novelty wears off in a few years or their expectations change, the animals are sometimes abandoned. Financial constraints can also play a role. Whatever the reason, we want to give these llamas a good home.”

Wilde has had many success stories of rehabilitated llamas, many whom he employs for his llama trekking wilderness trips.
